Following a four-year upward trend, rents in Dubai and across the UAE have surged significantly, placing increasing financial pressure on residents. Recent studies indicate that housing costs account for a substantial portion of household expenses, making affordability a growing concern—particularly for families.
To address this challenge, community-driven initiatives such as “Stir” have been introduced, aiming to support residents facing rental stress and help families maintain financial stability amid rising living costs.
“Our role extends beyond the implementation of judicial procedures; it includes standing alongside families facing financial hardship,” said Judge Abdulqader Mousa Mohammed, Chairman of the Dubai Rental Disputes Center (RDC). “Through this initiative, we further solidify the values of compassion and social responsibility within our Emirati community.”
Judge Mohammed emphasized that the RDC works closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure assistance reaches those most in need. Support is provided based on clear and transparent criteria, including social circumstances, outstanding financial obligations, income sources, past rental payment compliance, and verified documentation—ensuring fairness, integrity, and accountability in the process.
Highlighting the broader humanitarian vision behind the initiative, Saif Omar Aldelail, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment, said the program reflects a deep commitment to social welfare.
“This step stems from our firm belief in empowering humanitarian efforts and fulfilling our social responsibility to stand by families in need,” Aldelail said. “It is guided by noble values that promote family stability and social cohesion, reinforcing the UAE’s distinguished humanitarian identity.”
As Dubai rental prices and living costs continue to rise, initiatives like Stir play a vital role in safeguarding family well-being and strengthening community resilience across the UAE.
